Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo Mabona is now calling for investigations into the sudden death of veteran journalist Festus Amimo, suggesting, without providing evidence, that the Covid-19 vaccine could be contributing to a rise in unexplained fatalities.

Her remarks come as Kenyans continue to mourn the death of the head of KBC’s Mayienga FM, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday. Odhiambo said the country should not ignore the pattern of recent sudden deaths, insisting that authorities must probe the circumstances surrounding them.

“The death of Festus Amimo is shocking. These sudden deaths must be investigated, as was suggested by Raila’s sister, Dr. Akinyi Wenwa,” she wrote on her Facebook page, where she attributed Amimo’s death to the Covid-19 jab, a claim that has not been substantiated by medical experts.

Amimo’s colleagues told a local publication that their boss appeared to be in good health on Saturday night as they discussed English Premier League results until around 11 p.m.

“We are also shocked because our boss was jovial when we were discussing the EPL results late into the night. We don’t know what happened after that,” one colleague said.

Amimo, a seasoned broadcaster and head of Radio Mayienga, hosted the popular weekday breakfast show Gari Mokinyi. A devoted Manchester United supporter, he was admired by listeners, respected within the media industry, and celebrated by leaders across the region.

His death has triggered widespread grief. His body is preserved at Montezuma Funeral Home in Nairobi as the family and KBC plan burial arrangements.
