Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has urged the Luo community to rally behind President William Ruto, arguing that the current administration has demonstrated unmatched goodwill and commitment to developing the region despite receiving limited electoral support in the 2022 general election.

Speaking during a church service at Osakwe SDA Church in Karachuonyo on Saturday, Dr. Omollo praised the president’s inclusivity and national unity agenda, noting that the Luo community has significantly benefited under Ruto’s leadership.

“President Ruto has lived with us so well as the Luo community. There’s no one in Kenya who has remembered us like President Ruto. We must appreciate him by supporting him,” Dr. Omollo said.

He emphasized that the region continues to receive its rightful share of development projects, including road infrastructure and other key initiatives, mirroring efforts seen in traditionally pro-government zones.

“Between removing the president and getting development, which is more important to our community?” he posed, highlighting that some parts of Kenya already enjoy tarmacked roads up to their doorsteps due to political alignment.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, who was also present, echoed the sentiment and called for the Luo community to firmly back President Ruto’s re-election bid.

“I know there are people with divided minds, but mine is clear. In 2027, UDA and ODM must work together,” Mbadi declared.

Mbadi added that unless President Ruto voluntarily steps aside to support ODM leader Raila Odinga, the Luo community’s best and only viable option is to back Ruto for a second term.

The remarks are the latest indication of a growing political rapprochement between President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), signaling shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.
