Kenya has reported five new cases of the Mpox virus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 28 across 12 counties, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The latest cases were recorded in Nakuru (3) and Mombasa (2), with Nakuru leading the national tally at nine cases, followed by Mombasa with six. Other affected counties include Kajiado, Bungoma, Nairobi, Taita Taveta, Busia, Kiambu, Makueni, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, and Kilifi.

- Contacts Identified: 204 (50 under active follow-up, 7 positive cases among contacts)
To date, the National Public Health Laboratory has tested 322 samples, with 28 positive cases, 292 negative results, and two still pending. Since the outbreak began in July 2024, over 2.2 million travelers have been screened at various points of entry.
Preventive Measures
Health authorities are emphasizing public awareness and precautionary measures, including:
- Avoiding close contact with infected individuals or their belongings.
- Limiting sexual partners to reduce exposure.
- Practicing good hygiene through regular handwashing or sanitizer use.
- Reporting symptoms to healthcare facilities and isolating suspected cases.
The Ministry of Health continues to collaborate with county governments and stakeholders to combat the outbreak.
