Shock has rocked Michael Olunga Football Academy FC after head coach Charles Bruno stepped down following the club’s faltering bid for promotion to the Kenyan Premier League.

The Kenyan Tabloid understands that Bruno opted to leave his role after failing to guide the side to the top flight next season. His departure comes in the wake of MOFA’s painful 1-0 defeat to Migori Youth FC, a result that pushed the Migori-based outfit to the summit of the National Super League standings with only a few matches left before the season concludes.
In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the club confirmed the tactician’s exit.
“Charles Bruno has stepped down as head coach. We thank him for his professionalism, leadership, and unwavering dedication to The White Rhinos’ cause, and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Following Bruno’s resignation, assistant coach Fobian Hosea has been handed the reins on an interim basis as the club begins the search for a new tactician.
Bruno’s latest exit adds to a growing list of managerial departures in Kenyan football. The coach resigned from Kisumu All Stars last year, and his future in the local game now remains uncertain.
He leaves MOFA sitting fifth on the NSL table, far from the automatic promotion places the club had heavily targeted this season.
The decision has, however, sparked outrage among sections of MOFA supporters, with fans flooding social media to criticise the club’s leadership for allowing Bruno to walk away. Many described the move as a major miscalculation, insisting the tactician deserved more time to rebuild the squad and revive the club’s promotion ambitions.
