Residents of Kisumu County are beginning to reap the benefits of a series of free medical camps being rolled out across the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The initiative, spearheaded by prominent lawyer and aspiring politician Fred Odumo, forms part of a wider community outreach program aimed at addressing critical healthcare needs among the less privileged.

With his eyes set on the Kisumu senatorial seat, Odumo has been leading efforts to provide accessible, quality healthcare to communities often left behind by mainstream medical systems.

The latest medical camp is slated for tomorrow in Seme’s Bongu Konyango area, where hundreds of residents are expected to receive treatment for various ailments.

Speaking during a previous outreach in Nyando, Odumo underscored the importance of giving back to the community.

“Access to healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Many families here cannot afford quality medical services, and that’s where we come in, to bridge that gap,” he said.

The medical camps are staffed by qualified doctors, nurses, and clinical officers who offer free general check-ups, dental care, treatment of chronic illnesses, maternal health services, and essential medicines.

Odumo’s philanthropic footprint extends beyond healthcare. He has also championed education sponsorships and youth empowerment programs, earning him growing recognition at the grassroots level.

Local leaders and residents have lauded the initiative as both timely and life-changing.

“These medical camps are a blessing. Many people here suffer in silence due to lack of money for treatment. What Fred Odumo is doing is commendable,” said Martha Achieng, a resident of Nyando.

As political momentum builds toward the 2027 elections, analysts say such people-centered initiatives are likely to shape public perception and influence voter sentiment.

For Odumo, however, the message remains consistent, service before politics.
