Kisumu Central MP, Dr. Joshua Odongo Oron, has unveiled plans to construct two new secondary schools—a girls’ day school in Market Milimani Ward and another in Kanyakwar area—to address the shortage of day schools in the constituency.

Dr. Oron emphasized that Kisumu Central Sub-County currently has only girls’ boarding schools, forcing many students to struggle when seeking Grade 10 admission.

“We are constructing two girls’ secondary schools in Kanyakwar and Market Milimani, which will be ready by the end of the year. We don’t want students to leave the constituency in search of Grade 10 spaces. The new school in Milimani will be a girls’ day school, providing a conducive learning environment free from harassment,” he stated.

Driving Training Initiative Empowers Hundreds

On Monday, while issuing over 450 driving licenses and certificates to trained participants at his office in Tom Mboya, Kisumu Central Sub-County, Dr. Oron reaffirmed his commitment to empowering locals through skills training.

“This is an annual event aimed at upskilling residents and preparing them for employment,” he said, noting that the program targets training between 400 and 500 participants yearly.

The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Kisumu Central OCPD, ACC, and traffic base commander, ensures that all graduates receive proper training in road safety and traffic regulations.

“This is the second group; the first batch is already under evaluation to determine how many have secured employment,” he added.

Backing Raila-Ruto Political Alliance

Dr. Oron also expressed his unwavering support for the political collaboration between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto. He commended the partnership for securing key government positions for the ODM party, including the Treasury Ministry, Energy, and Blue Economy.

“We are in this government to stay and support Ruto in delivering his promises. We will not align with those opposing the administration,” Oron affirmed.

Through his initiatives in education, skills development, and political unity, Dr. Oron continues to solidify his influence and impact in Kisumu Central.
