Muhoroni MP James Onyango Koyoo has publicly criticised ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga, accusing her of disrespect and political intimidation following a disputed visit to his constituency.

Koyoo, who skipped Wanga’s weekend engagement in Muhoroni, claimed he was not formally invited despite serving as both the area MP and ODM patron. He said the only communication he received was a forwarded WhatsApp message allegedly from Wanga, requesting him to accompany her to the event.

“When I checked my WhatsApp, I found a forwarded message from the governor asking me to attend the occasion,” Koyoo said.

The legislator noted that the message came alongside an official church invitation dated April 3, which he described as too late, as he had already made prior commitments. He further faulted Wanga for failing to contact him directly or outline the purpose and programme of her visit.

An aggrieved Koyoo also accused Wanga of political scheming, alleging that she is backing her brother, Robert Nyasuna, to challenge him in the 2027 General Election. He termed the alleged move as “blackmail of the highest order,” insisting he would not be intimidated.

“This will not shake me. The scheme to front her brother against me is not a threat. Undermining me will not bring me down,” he stated.

Koyoo further claimed that Wanga is attempting to establish a political dynasty, warning that such ambitions could destabilise the region’s political landscape. He urged the ODM chair to exercise humility, cautioning that political success requires restraint and respect for others.

The MP went on to warn the Luo community against internal divisions, alleging that Wanga’s leadership style could trigger broader political fallout within the region.

“I am warning my fellow Luo community that if we are not careful, our downfall could come from this kind of leadership,” he added.
