Kisumu County Assembly Chief Whip, Seth Ochieng Kanga, also known as Adui Nyang, has launched a scathing attack on Kisumu East MP, Shakeel Shabbir, accusing him of prioritizing the construction of police stations over vital education institutions in the region.

Speaking at a funeral in Kadiju, Kolwa East Ward on Saturday, Kanga criticized the MP for focusing on building police stations and prisons instead of promoting education through technical colleges, medical training institutions, and teacher training colleges.

Kanga labeled Shabbir a “witch” for his alleged approach, suggesting that the MP’s efforts would only serve to incarcerate the youth of Kisumu East. He pointed out that while MPs like Aduma Owuor of Nyakach and Joshua Oron of Kisumu Central are advocating for education and development, Shabbir is building facilities to detain young people, including a police station at Kibos, Mamboleo, Ragumo, and a new court in Chiga.

“The MP is saying he’s building police stations and prisons for our children to go there. Is that not a witch?” Kanga said, drawing a sharp contrast between Shabbir’s alleged neglect of education and the development efforts of other lawmakers.

Kanga also promised to return in 2027 to vie for the Kisumu East parliamentary seat, emphasizing his commitment to his constituency’s development. He urged the residents to support the unity pact between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, calling it a positive move for peace and progress in the region.
