Principal Secretary for Interior Dr. Raymond Omollo has declared former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the most suitable candidate to lead Africa, expressing confidence in his victory as Raila heads to the polls on Saturday.

Speaking on Friday in Karachuonyo Sub-County, Homa Bay County, during the burial of the husband of former Judiciary Registrar Ann Amadi, Dr. Omollo highlighted Raila’s vast experience and statesmanship as key qualifications for the position.

“We are continuing to pray for him to emerge victorious,” Omollo said, calling upon Kenyans to remain united, pray for Raila, and disregard naysayers who wish him ill.

The PS praised President William Ruto for demonstrating selfless leadership in rallying support for Raila, despite being his competitor in Kenya’s 2022 general election.
“President Ruto has remained steadfast in ensuring Raila is marketed across the continent. Despite their political rivalry, he has put the nation first by presenting Raila as Kenya’s candidate,” he said.

Omollo lauded Raila for conducting his campaign with dignity, emphasizing that his victory would showcase Kenya’s leadership capabilities on the continental stage.

Beyond politics, Omollo took the opportunity to address ongoing development projects in Homa Bay County. He revealed that contractors have resumed work on several stalled road projects launched in 2018, particularly those leading to fish landing beaches along Lake Victoria.
“These roads will undoubtedly open up the region for economic growth,” Omollo said, adding that the government is working tirelessly to ensure roads across all 47 counties are in optimal condition.

On matters of security, the PS announced that the Ministry of Interior has mapped out areas prone to political violence, with Kakamega and Homa Bay counties flagged as hotspots. He warned of severe consequences for perpetrators of political thuggery and urged leaders to support the government in combating hooliganism, particularly at funerals.
“We will not tolerate lawlessness. Leaders must join hands with the government to end this menace,” he said.

Dr. Omollo’s remarks come as the nation watches Raila Odinga’s continental aspirations, with hopes that his leadership will position Kenya as a beacon of progress and unity in Africa.
