Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang officially launched the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams today, overseeing the opening of examination containers in Nairobi and Mombasa, respectively. In Kibera, Nairobi, Ogamba inaugurated the exams at the sub-county headquarters, expressing confidence in a seamless exercise and wishing success to the 965,000 candidates taking part this year.
Meanwhile, PS Kipsang opened the Mombasa exams container at the offices of the Regional Commissioner and proceeded to Shimo La Tewa High School. He emphasized the government’s comprehensive preparations for the exams, assuring that systems are in place to maintain integrity and efficiency.
“We are prepared as a government to ensure these exams proceed smoothly and effectively for the benefit of our students,” Kipsang stated.
The KCSE candidates will begin with English and Chemistry, marking the start of the nationwide assessment. New supervision protocols are in effect this year, requiring supervisors to rotate across different centers weekly. Additionally, examination containers will open at precisely 7:00 a.m. across the country, with strict measures to prevent early access to exam papers. These measures are part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Education to uphold exam security and ensure fairness.
