Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has lauded the ongoing construction of the Suna Marindi Market, a flagship project poised to become the largest trading hub in Migori County.

Speaking during an inspection of the project on Monday, Governor Ayacko commended the remarkable progress, describing the initiative as a transformative leap for the county’s economy.
“The progress so far is commendable. Once completed, this market will provide traders with modern, well-equipped spaces, fostering economic growth and creating countless job opportunities for our people,” he stated.

Developed in partnership with the African Development Bank, the Migori County Government, and the National Government, the market will feature modern stalls, improved sanitation facilities, storage areas, and robust security systems. Strategically located within Migori Town’s Central Business District, it is expected to reduce congestion, attract investors, and streamline business operations in the region.
Governor Ayacko emphasized his administration’s commitment to empowering small-scale businesses, saying, “This project reflects our dedication to supporting local trade and boosting the livelihoods of our residents. By investing in infrastructure and economic empowerment, we are building a solid foundation for Migori’s future.”

The Governor also reassured residents that similar projects aimed at bolstering the local economy and fostering trade would continue to receive priority. He called on the public to support the initiative, highlighting the market’s potential to benefit not just traders but the entire county through enhanced commerce and job creation.
As construction advances, the Suna Marindi Market is set to cement Migori’s position as a thriving regional hub for trade and development.
