Sun King, Kenya’s leading off-grid solar solutions provider, has opened its first customer experience centre in Kisumu, marking a major step in its mission to expand clean energy access in western Kenya.

The centre, located on the ground floor of Mega Plaza Mall along Oginga Odinga Road, is Sun King’s second such facility in Kenya, complementing its nationwide network of 163 retail shops. It is designed to provide faster service, hands-on demonstrations of solar products, and expert customer support.

Speaking during Wednesday’s launch, Sun King’s Vice President for EasyBuy Direct Sales in East and Southern Africa, Victor Agandi, said the Kisumu centre will make reliable and affordable solar energy more accessible to households and businesses.

“Opening our Kisumu experience centre is another step in our mission to bring affordable, reliable solar power to every Kenyan household and business. This centre gives our customers a place to explore our full range of products, receive hands-on support, and find the right energy solutions for their daily lives,” Agandi said.

Reading Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s speech, Kisumu County CECM for Energy, Jerome Ochieng, lauded the initiative, saying it aligns with the county’s transition to clean energy. He noted that Kisumu has already installed solar-powered floodlights in markets and introduced solar systems in facilities such as Obwolo Dispensary in Mamboleo.

“Rural electrification is also one of our programs and we will continue to collaborate with private sector partners, with Sun King among the key players driving Kisumu’s clean energy agenda. We are committed to creating an enabling environment for such businesses by streamlining licenses,” Ochieng said.

At the new centre, customers can access Sun King’s product portfolio, including:

  • HomePlus & HomePlus Pro: multi-room solar systems for lighting, phone charging, and small DC appliances.
  • PowerPlay Pro: a plug-and-play inverter for TVs, laptops, routers, and energy-efficient fridges.
  • PowerHub: a large-scale inverter system delivering up to 30 kW, suitable for homes, schools, clinics, and commercial enterprises.

All products are available under Sun King’s EasyBuy pay-as-you-go financing plan, allowing customers to pay in affordable instalments.

The Kisumu centre will operate Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
