In a dramatic police raid on Wednesday, November 12, officers from Migosi Police Station, acting on a tip-off from the public, arrested a suspected habitual thief, 20-year-old Adam Abdallah, at his makeshift home in Kibos. The suspect, identified by the Kisumu East OCPD Joseph Obara as a Nubian, was allegedly found in possession of numerous stolen items and a cache of dangerous weapons, raising concerns about the scope of his criminal activities.

Led by Migosi OCS Lilian Ang’iro, officers stormed Abdallah’s home—a sheet-metal structure—where they uncovered 750 national identity cards, a black toy gun, machetes, kitchen knives, and other burglary tools, including screwdrivers and blunt objects. Household items such as gas cookers and scissors, suspected to be stolen, were also recovered. Some victims were able to identify their stolen belongings at the scene.

The swift police action, sparked by vigilant community members, highlights growing concerns over security in Kisumu East, a densely populated area that Obara notes has required increased patrols and vigilance as the holiday season approaches. Officers managed to prevent mob justice by rescuing the suspect from an angry crowd at the scene, with Obara urging residents to report suspicious activities to police rather than taking the law into their own hands.

“We want to ensure the safety of all, especially during December, with children now on school break,” Obara stated, emphasizing the need for community cooperation and planned barazas to discuss safety with parents and local leaders.

Abdallah remains in police custody pending arraignment, with charges expected to include possession of stolen property and suspected involvement in theft rings. Police are investigating the source and intended use of the 750 identity cards found in his possession.
