President William Ruto would secure a second term if general elections were held today, capturing 45.1% of the national vote, according to the latest presidential preference brief released by Politrack Africa.

The poll reveals a shifting political landscape, positioning Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in second place with a significant 19.6% backing. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka follows in third with 10.3%.

Other notable contenders in the survey include former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at 7.2%, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at 6.0%, and an undecided bloc standing at 8.4%.

Key Issues Shaping Voter Sentiment
The Politrack Africa study underscores policy performance and economic priorities as central drivers for the electorate. Infrastructure development (roads) and housing emerged as top voter priorities, tied at 16.3% each.

Healthcare services—specifically under the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and Social Health Authority (SHA)—attracted 13.0% of voter attention, while agriculture registered 10.0%. Education trailed at 4.7%, and job creation and youth opportunities stood at 4.1%, with 25.6% of respondents citing none of the listed issues.

The Race for the Deputy Presidency
In the contest for preferred running mate, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru leads the pack with 36% support among respondents. PLP leader Martha Karua follows closely at 27%, while Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga registers 15%.

The findings offer an early barometer of political alignments and public sentiment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
