The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) branch elections, initially set for November 9, are now rescheduled for November 14 following the Kitui High Court’s decision to lift an injunction that previously halted the process.
In a ruling delivered Tuesday, November 12, Hon. Justice Robert Limo cited the similarity between the petition before the Kitui court and one already filed at the Milimani Law Courts. Consequently, the petition was dismissed, allowing the FKF Electoral Board to move forward with the elections.
“The petition is substantially similar to the Milimani petition; therefore, we stay the petition,” Judge Limo ruled, effectively clearing the way for the much-anticipated elections to proceed.
The FKF branch elections had faced a delay after the Kenya Football Association challenged its oversight authority, leading the Kitui High Court to issue a temporary order blocking the elections until further proceedings.
In an official statement signed by FKF Board Chairman Hesbon Owilla and Secretary Marcelinne Sande, the board confirmed the elections would proceed on November 14, 2024. The statement also emphasized that all stakeholders involved in the elections, including returning officers and election officials, are required to be at their assigned stations by November 13 to ensure smooth preparations for the big day.

The branch elections will set the stage for the FKF national elections, slated for December 7, 2024, where the federation’s new president will be elected. This process has experienced significant delays due to ongoing litigation, but with the latest court ruling, the electoral process is back on track.
