Former Harambee Stars head coach Adel Amrouche has won his contractual dispute against the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), with FIFA ordering the federation to pay him approximately KSh46.5 million in compensation following the termination of his contract.
Amrouche, a Belgian-Algerian coach, was appointed Rwanda’s head coach in March 2025 and remained in charge until his dismissal earlier this year.
The coach challenged his sacking at FIFA, arguing that his contract had been wrongfully terminated. FIFA subsequently ruled in his favour and awarded him compensation over the breach of contract.
FERWAFA has acknowledged receiving the ruling and said it is reviewing the full decision before determining its next course of action. The federation is considering appealing the verdict at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The ruling adds to a growing list of costly contractual disputes involving African football federations and former coaches.
In Kenya, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is still embroiled in a separate dispute with former Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat, who is seeking approximately KSh75 million in unpaid salaries and compensation for alleged breach of contract.
Firat took the matter to FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber last year, and the case remains active.
