Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has launched a blistering attack on ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of incompetence, political demagoguery, and lacking integrity, and calling on him to resign from the party if he is “tired.”

This follows comments made by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during a live television interview on Tuesday night, where he publicly dismissed the broad-based government and vowed never to support President William Ruto, insisting that Ruto would serve only one term.

In a viral video shared on social media, Alai tore into the ODM Secretary-General, claiming he is “clueless, inexperienced, and unfit” to lead the party. He alleged that since Sifuna took over the party’s top administrative role from Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, he has failed to execute basic responsibilities, including updating the party’s website.

“Sifuna does not know how to run a political machine. Since Nyong’o left, even the ODM website has never been updated. He lacks the experience and credibility to advise or lead this party,” Alai charged.

Alai further accused Sifuna of being compromised, claiming he has been handed a political script by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to “dismantle ODM from within.” The MCA went on to allege that Sifuna demanded a KSh 50 million bribe during Gachagua’s impeachment process, but later declined a Cabinet appointment after being offered the Interior docket, citing lack of experience.

He also accused the ODM Secretary-General of intimidating other ODM senators, specifically singling out Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’, whom he claimed rode on sympathy votes and lacks grassroots mobilization skills.

“Sifuna is a dictator within ODM. He disrespects elected leaders and has turned the party into his personal fiefdom,” Alai claimed.

The attack by Alai marks a new low in internal party wrangles, signaling growing tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement amid ongoing political realignments. Sifuna has yet to respond to the allegations.
